About Us
Thomson & Page has been in business in Vancouver for nearly 80 years. We are a family run business that takes pride in offering the very best in home furniture and furnishings to our customers. Long known for our Granville Street location, we made the move to Kerrisdale in 1999 where we continue to offer only the best in home décor.

The Store
StorefrontTo step into the Thomson & Page showroom is to be enveloped in a world of comfort and beauty. The showroom is welcoming, warm and a real education in home design and decoration.

This is the only showroom in the lower mainland where you can see the Frank Lloyd Wright® Furniture line. As well, you will find other quality classic to contemporary furniture lines, and an impressive collection of leather and fabric upholstery, lighting, bedding and rugs.

Our design consultants are unrivalled in their product knowledge – they are available to give you a guided tour of the showroom. Or feel free to explore and discover at your own pace.

Our Philosophy
To sell “only the best” was a business decision and philosophy that focused Thomson & Page on the niche market of exclusive high-end furniture.

Jeff & LaurenLike their parents before them, co-owners Jeff Knauer and Lauren Clegg are continually seeking out furniture lines that reflect the standards of quality and style that Thomson & Page has come to be known for.

Our History
When Thomson & Page was opened by partners Melvin Thomson and Lawrence Page in 1929, the store sold only electrical and home appliances. During the Depression of the 1930’s, times were hard and Lawrence Page left the company. Ron Wilson (current owners Knauer and Clegg’s grandfather) joined as a silent partner. He was an excellent handyman and his skills were of great use in the appliance repair area.

Our HistoryBy the late 1950’s, Thomson & Page had expanded into selling sheet music, records, televisions and record players. They were well-known for their music listening booths and their wide selection of LPs and singles. However, it was only in the early 1960’s that the company moved into selling furniture.

Ye Olde StoreIn 1975, Mel Thomson decided to retire and sold his share of the business to Jim & Peggy Knauer who then owned 100% of the business. Peggy Knauer had a flair for design (she chose all the home accessories) and the two soon opened B.C.’s first Furniture Gallery, replacing the more conventional “rows and rows of sofas and chairs, punctuated by blocks of washing machines or TVs”, with vignettes to display the furniture in a typical “at home setting”. The gallery was a success and it was decided to gradually phase out the sale of appliance and electronics in order to concentrate on home furnishings and accessories. Jim’s excellent business skills and easy-going personality helped form many of the relationships with customers and suppliers that still exist today.

Siblings and current co-owners, Jeff Knauer and Lauren Clegg, took over the business from their parents in 1997 and have since introduced many new lines and a custom order service. They moved the business to Kerrisdale in 1999 where they continue to serve the Vancouver and B.C. market with only the best furniture and furnishings and home accessories.
